The officer involved, Val Brown, was identified internally and placed on modified duty the day after this incident, according to a representative of the department. On March 4, 2021, a spokesperson said the investigation into the incident had been completed and the officer was returned to full-duty status. In response to a public records request, the department released a letter indicating that the officer had one allegation of unnecessary use of force sustained against him and received “coaching and counseling” as a result.
