Bermudez has a daughter named Kat Shampang who works directly for him as a Deputy Sheriff in violation of state nepotism laws. Bermudez has crashed County vehicles while drunk and was not disciplined. Bermudez has numerous complaints from Esmeralda County citizens for being drunk on duty. There are a number of witnesses who have reported Bermudez drunk on duty and there is no accountability at the Esmeralda County Sheriff Office.
