## Official Statement

Initially praised, his videos drew criticism from the ACLU and families of suspects for inflammatory rhetoric, including racial undertones in a state police collaboration targeting the "Gremlins" gang. Sheriff Bobby Guidroz warned him against personal attacks and unprofessional tone. Higgins resigned in February 2016 after an internal probe into insubordination, misuse of department resources for personal gain (e.g., selling merchandise via his LLC, negotiating paid speaking fees that covered personal expenses, and using official email for private business), and potential IRS reporting issues for unreported earnings. Guidroz later stated he would not have rehired Higgins had he known the full details of the 2007 incident.
