On or about January 8, 2020, a concerned individual contacted Sheriff Bryant via text to inquire as to which deputy may have "lost" their badge in an effort to return it to the Sheriff.

The Sheriff, Bryant, acknowledges his awareness that the badge may have been "stolen" and then stated that it was back in the custody of the sheriff's department. The **statement was false**, as the badge was in the custody of the reporting party at the time of the statement. The individual informed him that the badge was not in the custody of the Sheriff's Office and requested that arrangements be made for it's return. As of December 2, 2022, the Sheriff's office, has yet to make any effort, arrangements, or follow up to retrieve the badge.

The conversation also indicates the possibility that a second unaccounted for badge may possibly in the possession of "a felon".

Attached photo #1 shows the statement in the 1/08/2020 text conversation made by Sheriff Bryant.

Attached photo # 2 (taken 12/02/2022) shows that the badge is not in the Sheriff Office's custody as stated by Sheriff Bryant.
