## Statement

Former Pushmataha County Associate Judge \[resigned on November 1, 2023\], **Jana Kay Wallace**, became General Counsel for the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations \[OSBI\].

During an investigation into complaints against OSBI Director, [Aungela Spurlock](https://giglio-bradylist.com/individual/aungela-%20spurlock) in 2024, an email Wallace authored during her time on the bench surfaced, in which she referred to an alleged illegal alien \[father in a divorce proceeding\] as a "wet back" while seeking legal clarification from an [Oklahoma Department of Public Safety](https://giglio-bradylist.com/oklahoma/oklahoma-department-public-safety) attorney \[Mark Bright\].

The [Attorney General](https://giglio-bradylist.com/oklahoma/attorney-general-oklahoma) found no evidence of criminal activity by Spurlock.

Jana Wallace resigned as OSBI's General Counsel on May 2, 2024.
