## Official Statement

Yvonne "Missy" Woods, a former DNA analyst with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI), has been charged with 102 criminal counts, including forgery, perjury, cybercrime, and attempting to influence a public servant. These charges stem from allegations that, between 2008 and 2023, Woods manipulated DNA test results in 58 sexual assault cases. She is accused of deleting and altering data to falsely report the absence of male DNA when, in fact, small amounts were present. This misconduct was discovered in September 2024 by an intern who noticed discrepancies in historical sexual assault cases. An internal investigation revealed widespread data manipulation in Woods's workbooks. The CBI estimates the financial impact of her actions to exceed $11 million. Authorities are now reviewing all affected cases to assess the potential impact on past convictions.
